About Us

Capital Realty Analysts was founded in 1997 by Michael A. Scarcella, MAI and James C. Dingman. Both Mike and Jim began their appraisal careers in the firm MacKenzie & Associates, where they both trained under the direction of the late Mr. James H. MacKenzie, MAI. Originally based in Palm Desert, the firm grew rapidly as the work ethic and analytical skills of the founders caught the attention of many local lenders and municipalities. As the firm’s Client base expanded, Jim developed a particularly strong expertise in complex leasing and sub-leasing assignments, while Mike developed a strong reputation in the master planned community / golf / residential subdivision segments. Of course hotel and other hospitality related valuation has also been strength of the firm. Upon the 2004 retirement of Ms. Judy Willetts, the firm’s initial single-family residential appraisal manager, the firm appointed Mr. Ed Aarons to fill the void. Ed’s strength in high-value residential property valuation continues to support a strong residential valuation program for the firm. 

In 2005, Jim left the Coachella Valley to develop the Central Coast office of CRA. The Central Coast operation has become quite successful doing a significant business in complex commercial valuation assignments. In 2006, Jennifer Prado joined the firm. As a former litigator and industrial real estate broker, Jennifer adds significant credibility to the industrial valuation segment. In addition Jennifer has significant experience in medical office valuation and consulting. In late 2006, Doug Hughes was added to the roster to round out the current team of professionals.
